Electronic Gaming Monthly Introduces Digital Magazine On Facebook Using New ScreenPaper Technology

October 12, 2010 – Beverly Hills, CA – Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), the first and most trusted magazine serving the console, handheld and social gaming spaces, announced the launch of their weekly digital companion magazine in a new application that delivers professionally designed magazine pages embedded with video, audio, downloads and more that can be viewed within Facebook.  EGM is the first company to use this new digital newsstand technology developed by ScreenPaper Media, LLC.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our digital magazine, EGMi, within the Facebook platform,” explained Steve Harris, Publisher of EGM. “We now have the ability to publish our products to all Facebook users and allow that community to read and share the unique content that we publish each week.  With ScreenPaper we have the ability to easily create pages featuring video, picture galleries, music, and other downloadable features just like you find on the iPad.”

The technology was developed as an extension of the ScreenPaper digital publishing solution and features the new ScreenPaper Reader that allows readers to navigate, search, and access premium content based on their subscription status or purchase of the print EGM at newsstands.

“The ScreenPaper Facebook application not only enables publishers to actually place their magazines, catalogs, and other periodicals inside Facebook, but also allows the community’s users to purchase new issues of each publication, notify friends about particular articles, and automates the viral distribution of content in a new and exciting way,” explained ScreenPaper president Dirk Gemeinhardt.  “It’s an extremely powerful tool that we believe all publishers will want in their distribution plans.”

The viral capabilities built into ScreenPaper’s Facebook application allows publishers to tap into a powerful community and provide them with the extensive functionality of the ScreenPaper Basic and ScreenPaper Plus formats.  Using the company’s PaperSeed back-end tool publishers can quickly and easily repurpose print content or create unique digital content that boasts all of the features found in the browser and iPad versions of the service without the need for technical expertise.

“The ScreenPaper architecture is very intuitive and easy to use,” Harris continued.  “It not only gives us the ability to create amazing digital content but also has many functions like the ability to offer our print magazine readers access to premium content through the new Facebook application.  This integration of print and digital technologies has been enthusiastically embraced by our readership and we are confident they will respond to the new viral marketing options that this technology provides.”
